The Aft side of the Disney Fantasy
Why We Will Never Sail the
Disney Fantasy Again
- Poor service from Guest Relations, the only place you can go to get problems solved.
- Problems on both of our Disney Fantasy cruises were dropped by guest relations.
- Heating/AC issues took two days to resolve.
- Noise problems not adequately addressed or improved until cruise day five.
- Continuous “I’m sorries” without action being taken.
- Guest services managers become grouchy and defensive.
- Refusal to refer to someone higher up.
- It is the only Disney Cruise Line vessel on which we have had problems.
- We have options with other Disney cruise ships or, if necessary, other cruise lines.

“I believe in moderation in all things; including moderation!” – Groucho Marx.
Let me start out with a caveat. “Never say always or never.” As Groucho Marx so astutely exposed the fallacy in the “I believe in moderation” statement, I recognize the problem with my statement, too. For now anyway, I am comfortable saying that we will never sail the Disney Fantasy again.
The Good
We love the Disney Cruise Line. We have been fortunate enough to sail aboard all four of the Disney ships. A love/hate relationship with the Disney Fantasy has developed for us, though. The Fantasy is the most esthetically pleasing ship of the Disney Cruise Line. The peacock theme of the lobby is beautiful. The Europa entertainment zone is amazing.
Some of our favorite Disney Cruise Line staff work on the Fantasy. Assistant Cruise Director (soon to be head Cruise Director) Michael is the best. The entire Cruise Staff Team (Jay, JoshE, Cory, Raf, Alicia..) know how to keep you entertained with style and humor. Jessica, formerly of Guest Relations, Antonio of the lobby cleaning team, all of the room hosts, and all of the servers go out of their way to make your your cruise amazing.
The Bad
The Disney Fantasy is the only ship on which we have had problems, and it occurred on both of our cruises. Anyone can make mistakes. The response to these problems is why we will never sail the Disney Fantasy again. Taking two days to remedy a heating/AC problem is far too long. Refusing to address a noise problem for four nights of a seven day cruise is unacceptable. I had to take the problem all the way to the Hotel Manager before we saw results, both times. There was no reason that these issues could not have been fixed after the first night
Any dealings that we have had with guest relations on the Disney Fantasy have been subpar. The desk workers always say, “I am sorry. We will look into it.” Then nothing happens. When you ask to speak to a manager, the manager says, “I am so sorry. We will get this taken care of as soon as possible.” Then nothing happens. When you ask to speak to a supervisor or the Hotel Manager, they say, “We do not want it to escalate to that point.” Then refuse to schedule an appointment.
“Never” again on the Disney Fantasy
Again, we love much about the Disney Fantasy. Guest Relations is not one of those things, though. Seeing that we love the Disney Cruise Line, we still have three other options (in 2020 and 2021 it will grow to 4 and then 5) from which to choose.
As I stated at the start, never say always or never. If the Fantasy offers an itinerary in the future that we feel that we cannot miss, it is possible that we could give the Fantasy another go. It will take some time to get the bad taste out of our mouths, though. As for now, I will stick with never.

Lobby of the Disney Fantasy
Thanks for posting this! good to know. I’ve only ever heard good things about Disney, and It’s kind of refreshing to know that it’s not a magical perfect place… it’s run by humans, not robots lol. Great review!
Thanks. We want to be honest in all things. We are huge Disney fans, and Disney customer service usually is exceptional. Not on the Disney Fantasy for us, though.
