Ten Reasons to Travel by Cruise
When planning you next family vacation, here are ten reasons to travel by cruise. We are completely sold on cruising for these and other reasons. As you will see, cruising decreases the travelers stress and increases enjoyment in many ways.
1. Less Planning
When booking a cruise, you only have to book the cruise and transportation to and from the ship. You do not need to consult TripAdvisor and check hotel availability. You do not have to book a room for each place you plan to visit. You do not have to worry about transport from town to town whether by plane, train, or automobile. You simply book the cruise and you’re off.
2. Stay in the Same Room
No matter how many stops the ship makes, you only have to pack and unpack once. The ship takes you from port to port usually during the night. This not only saves time and reduces stress, but also decreases the chance that you will leave something behind.
3. Tour Multiple Ports
With cruising, each day brings a new adventure. While you cannot get a comprehensive view of each location, you can hit highlights and get a feel for the area. This can help you better decide to which, if any, of the places you would like to return, maybe for an extended stay.
Having food available on board and included in the cruise cost does not mean that you have to eat on board, but it is nice to have the option. Catching a quick breakfast before heading ashore saves time and money. If you want, you can taste as much or as little of the local fare as you wish. More time can be spent touring. In general, you will find the ship’s food of good quality. This can also help with picky eaters as the selection is generally vast.
5. Port Excursions through the Ship
You can book port excursions directly through the ship. These are pre-vetted by the cruise staff to ensure quality. These can be booked in the weeks before sailing or on the ship. We recommend double checking with TripAdvisor.
6. Ship Entertainment
There is so much to do on a cruise ship. Broadway style musicals, magicians, comedians and first run movies are some of the entertainment provided in the evenings. Night clubs, kids clubs, and teen activities are provided to keep everyone happy. You are never bored on a cruise.
7. Set Schedules
It is quite easy to get into a routine on cruise ship. With set times for each meal, entertainment, port excursion departures and returns, things are less hectic on a cruise ship. Aside from your time ashore, most everything else is scheduled and prepared for you .
8. Views of the Sea and Coast
Sailing into and out of port are two of my favorite times on a cruise ship. Views of the harbors and the coast from the sea are breathtaking. This perspective is hard to appreciate from anywhere else.
9. English Speaking Staff
While this may not be important or even preferred by some people, for those of us who are most comfortable with our native tongue and who like to be well prepared this can be comforting. While this does not allow total cultural emersion, you can get a taste of the culture and see if diving more in depth in the future is for you.
10. Can Be Cost Effective
While this is obviously not always the case, it certainly can be. It is hard to explore multiple Caribbean or Hawaiian islands without excessive cost of going from one island to the next. Some destinations like the French Riviera are priced out of the range of most of us. On a cruise, your room and transportation are included. Add the cost of food and entertainment to your savings and you can see how cruising can be cost effective.
When you are planning your next family vacation, consider these ten reasons to travel by cruise ship.
