Rome to Florence
on High Speed Train
Rome to Florence on high speed train covers the 170 miles in about 90 minutes. We have only ridden a high speed train once before in Great Britain. We loved that experience and chose to try it again in Italy.
Leaving from Termini Station in Rome, we sped across Lazio and on through Tuscany to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Station. All of these photos were taken while zipping through Italy on the train.
We do not have access to high speed trains where we live, but what a great way to travel. The trains are comfortable, and you get a great view of the countryside.
I have heard it said that Europe and America differ in that, in Europe, 100 years is a short period of time, but 100 miles is a long distance. In America, the opposite is true.
The landscapes of Lazio and Tuscany were a treat to watch: farmland, vineyards, and olive groves.
Hill towns can be seen in the distance.
The journey from Rome to Florence was beautiful and never boring.
The photos were all taken through the windows at high speed. So, they are not the best. But, I hope that you have enjoyed them and have got an idea of the sites between Rome and Florence. I cannot wait to travel by high speed train again.
