The Top Ten Reasons
We Love Christmas At Disney World!

This year will make seven years straight that have spent part of the Christmas season at Walt Disney World. We have visited Disney World during most times of the year. Christmas remains our favorite. It has become a family tradition.
When I decided to write this post, I asked my son, “What makes Christmas at Disney World so special?” His response was, “It’s Christmas, and it’s Disney!” While this is true, it makes for a short post. I wanted to delve a little deeper. So, with more thought, we chose the top ten reasons we love Christmas at Disney World.
Christmas Lights

We love Christmas lights! Disney goes all out with everything; Christmas lights included.
Poinsettias

These cheery, red flowers blanket the ground, line the streets, and even Christmas trees.
Snow!

Disney has even found a way to make this cold weather hater love snow. Delicate flakes (soap suds) fill the sky and drift to the ground with temperatures near 70 F (20 C). Brilliant!
Cinderella Castle

Lights transform Cinderella Castle at Christmas.
Cinderella Castle is always beautiful. During Christmas, lights adorn the castle and illuminate the night sky.
Holidays Around the World

Santa and Mrs. Claus at Epcot
The Epcot World Showcase is not to be missed at Christmas. The holiday traditions of each of the 11 World Showcase countries give even more to explore: decorations, Santas, and storytellers fill the area. For the countries that do not celebrate Christmas, you will find interesting exhibits on their traditions.
Christmas Merchandise

Would it really by Disney without shopping and merchandise? At Christmastime, Walt Disney World sells a plethora of special items. Clothing, decorations, sweet treats, Disney World has you covered with special, seasonal products. What better place to do Christmas shopping?
Christmas Trees

Each of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks has their own centerpiece Christmas tree. The Disney resorts each display, festive trees, too.
Ginger Bread Houses

At each Disney deluxe resort, beautiful and fragrant gingerbread creations await. At some of the resorts, you can buy the gingerbread to enjoy.
Resort Decorations

Not only are the theme parks decked out with Christmas cheer, but the resorts go all out, too.
Christmas Carols

How can Christmas be complete without music? Dickensonian Christmas Carolers show up at resorts. A gospel choir sings at Epcot. Christmas music plays throughout the parks. Silent Night playing overhead while snow falls on Main Street, USA is a truly magical experience at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”

The Seven Dwarfs at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
I did not mention Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or the Candlelight Procession. These are great, also. The extra price of the party and the long waits for the Procession keep us from enjoying them every year. There are still plenty of reasons we love Christmas at Disney World.

Great to hear about the specialties of Disney world. sure, your choice seems good. Thanks for such a wonderful article.
Thank you very much Hampi. I hope you get to experience it, too.
Christmas at Disney World sounds so much fun. The pictures just show a part of it. Guess I’d have to be there to see more by myself.
We love Disney World at all times, but these are some of the things that are different during the Christmas season.
This looks so magical! I’ve been at EuroDisney for New Year (on a blind date can you believe…don’t ask…) but would love to experience it at Christmas! I’m always worried we’d be frowned upon going without kids but I guess we wouldn’t be the only ones (and technically we’re just big kids anyway!)
We are adults with a teen son. Grown ups certainly do not feel out of place at Disney World. Someday I would like to visit EuroDisney, too.
thanks to you, i’m now totally considering disney world for my next christmas. i had to skip disneyland on my previous travel the last time, so i really want my first disney trip to be memorable. might as well to merge it in the christmas day as well! 🙂
I personally recommend going to Disney World around the first of December. All of the Christmas decorations and attractions are out, but the crowds are not as bad. Christmas day through New Years is the busiest week of the year at Disney world.
Disney is always a good idea. Once our little ones are bigger that will be a nice trip for us_ Disney at Christmas time.
Our kids were both 8 when we took them the first. Maybe we could have taken them earlier, but they had a great time and remember everything. In addition to the things that I listed, Florida weather in December is usually quite comfortable.
Wow Disney really goes all out on the holiday decorations! I love Disney but my husband not so much. We’d have to wait til we have kids so that he’d be willing to take me there haha!
Good luck! We both love Disney. So, it’s easy.
I never managed to see Disney World during the holiday season and I see I’m definitely missing out! I’ve just had to add it to our bucket list, thank you!
I hope you make it soon.
Disney World during the holidays is such a great idea. The lighting and the decors are so beautiful. The Christmas merchandise is so cute ! I would love visiting this winter wonderand !
Disney world at any time of the year is pretty sweet but I can imagine it being just spectacular over Christmas, with the lights, love the lighting over Cinderellas Castle 😀 Just reading through this post gave me that tingly Christmas feeling 😀
Disney goes overboard with most things, Christmas included. Have a Merry Christmas!
I’ve always wanted to take my kids to Disney World at Christmas, but for a very selfish reason – because I want to see it and enjoy the festivities myself 🙂 All those light, and parties and festivities… It seems like a wonderful trip! I’m envious… Maybe next year…
I hope you can! Check out this week’s post for how to make that cheaper.
I completely agree! Christmas at any Disney is awesome. Makes me wish I was back in the States for the holidays!
