Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards
So Much for the Entire Family to Do!
Our Huber’s Story

The barn that houses the Huber Winery
When my wife and I met in 1994, we visited Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards on one of our first dates. Located less than a half hour from downtown Louisville, Kentucky, Huber’s was a nice escape to the country. Back then, a gambrel barn that housed the winery was one of the few structures on site. Southern Indiana’s rolling hills spread for miles around.
We ordered a wine sampler and a cheese tray. Sharing six of the one ounce samples, we acted like had a clue about wine and felt rather silly. It was great fun, though.
Over the past two decades, we have returned numerous times. Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards has changed, but so have we. I haven’t drank alcohol in twenty years. My wife rarely does. We have raised two children together. Huber’s has grown to be just as suited for families as for young couples.

Inside Huber’s Winery
Today, Huber’s still has the gambrel barn as the main winery and shop. Its small wine and cheese sampling room has grown and spread to include shaded outdoor tables with musical entertainment on the weekends. A farm fresh market sells fruits and vegetables grown on the Huber farm along with homemade jams, jellies, candies, and baked goods.

A creamery serves ice cream and cheese, all made on site.

Kids enjoy a petting zoo with a menagerie of animals. I vividly remember a goat ramming a deer at the zoo as we toured with our then young son. My wife still hates goats to this day because of that rambunctious goat!

Your children can play at Huber’s, too.
Tractors pull wagons loaded with families out to the orchards to pick seasonal fruit: blackberries, peaches, apples, raspberries, grapes, melons, and strawberries. You can also pick seasonal vegetables in season.

A trip to Huber’s provides a wonderful day in the country. There is so much for the entire family to do!
Huber’s History

Orchards at Huber’s
Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards lies on land settled by the Huber family in the 1840s after arriving in America from Germany. In 1938, the gambrel barn winery began as a dairy barn. Shortly thereafter, the family switched to growing fruits and vegetables. In the 1960s, the farm market was opened. Then, in 1978, the Huber family first started producing wine.

Huber’s Winery
Even though Huber’s has grown over the decades, it still keeps its family feel. Friendly country people provide warm, clean service to city dwellers looking for an escape to the farm.

Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards
Today, we still enjoy visiting Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards. Instead of the wine sampler, we opt for the fruit juice sampler. The cheese tray never gets old! Shopping for fresh, seasonal fruits, vegetables, and homemade cheese is fun. Ice cream always hits the spot.

Huber’s Vineyards
It is quite relaxing watching ducks paddle across the ponds with trees and vines covering the hills on a peaceful afternoon.
