Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Orange Loop. Today we are sharing stories and ways you can thank Disney Cast Members.
Disney employees are referred to as cast members. Walt Disney wanted them to be a “part of the play” and a part of the experience. I have been to Walt Disney World many times and to Disneyland twice. I have had overwhelmingly great cast member experiences and a few not so good. Sometimes though, the cast member has gone out of their way so much that they deserve some special recognition. Here are two examples of cast members who deserve my families special thanks.
We love staying at the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort because of its proximity to Magic Kingdom and easy access to the monorail. Using DVC points to book stays oftentimes leaves us with broken reservations which would make us to have to switch rooms several times. Switching rooms, packing and unpacking, checking in and checking out takes time away from the parks.
Cynthia at the Bay Lake Tower has graciously helped us 3 or 4 times to consolidate our reservations, allowing us to not switch rooms. She has always been pleasant and eager to help. Without her extra effort, our stays would have been less magical.
When the new DVC property, the Polynesian Villas, opened, we were eager to give them a try. Unfortunately, our first night was a disaster. The worst part was being kept awake most of the night by the horns from the boats. We decided to transfer to the Bay Lake Tower.
Upon arriving to the Bay Lake Tower, Jordon listened to our moans about the sleepless night at the Polynesian. He went out of his way to accommodate us. Not only did he get an excellent room, but he had our DVC points for the nights stay at the Polynesian added back (basically giving us a refund for a bad experience), and he gave us extra fast passes. We can not thank Jordon enough! What began as a terrible experience was more than salvaged.
A third cast member who we will never forget is Chris, our head waiter aboard the Disney Dream. On Disney cruises, you keep the same servers throughout your stay. Chris was a true entertainer. He would say, “During the day, I am Chris. But at night, I am Dangerous Chris!” He would then proceed to perform magic tricks. He had a special rapport with our son and gently teased him each night. We laughed and were amazed by his table side magic. Even on a wonderful, unforgettable experience aboard the Disney Dream, Chris stood out. Thank you Chris!
I would like to say thank you again to Cynthia, Jordon, and Chris for not only doing their jobs, but going beyond the expected and delivering true Disney magic!
