Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Red Loop. Today we are sharing tips to get great photos on your Disney vacation.
Every square inch of Disney has been photographed I know, but some places are much more popular and some others are overlooked. I am going to give you ideas for some little known photography spots at Disney World that will give you great pictures.
1.The Enchanted Forest area in Magic Kingdom–
If you’ve read my blog before, you know this is one of my favorite areas in all of Disney World. There are many reasons. One reason is that we have been able to get some great photos with the Enchanted Forest as the backdrop. Gaston’s Tavern and the fountain in front also make for great photos either with or without people in the shot. At night this spot is particularly stunning. Christmas decorations make it even more beautiful, but any time of year this area is lit up and makes for a great photo.
2.The Tangled Sitting Area-
I know there are restrooms near this, but they are even pretty! With Rapunzel’s Tower in the background, and all of the glowing lanterns, this makes for a really beautiful photo. Again, the effect is enhanced at night when the glow of the lanterns really adds to the ambiance. You can get some pictures of Wishes from this area too.
3.The World Showcase at Epcot–
The places I am talking about in this case are the places off of the main walkway. One of the best is the gardens of the Great Britain Pavilion. Disney changes the flowers in the gardens seasonally. This along with the quaint Twinings Tea Building and other buildings in the area make for a beautiful backdrop for photos. The Italy Pavilion is another good area because of the uniqueness of the buildings which add to the ambiance of the photos. The Canada Pavilion has a nice area to take photos on the way to the “O Canada” film; the recreation of Bouchart Gardens. The Germany Pavilion has many unique photo opportunities again due to the unique architecture that Disney has so artfully created.
5.African Marketplace at Animal Kingdom-
The theming here is very good and provides ample photo opportunities. Other good places for photos at Animal Kingdom are down the Pangoni Forest Trail and next to the Yeti Coaster area. With “Mt. Everest” as your backdrop you can’t go wrong!
6.Litlle Side Streets off of Main Street U.S.A.-
I had been going to Magic Kingdom for a few years before noticing the side streets branching off of Main Street U.S.A. that have quaint little sitting areas adorned with plants and seats. You almost have to be at the park near closing or opening to notice these areas.
7.The Disney Resorts-
The resorts may be overlooked as a great place to get some memorable and high quality photos. We have some beautiful pictures from The Beach Club Hotel, The Grand Floridian and others; particularly at Christmas. I’ll talk about just a few of them.
a.The Beach Club Hotel-
This hotel is a beautiful place to take photos of the hotel itself, the grounds, and the view across the lake at the Boardwalk. The architecture of The Beach and Yacht Club make for some great shots. The lights from the Boardwalk reflecting on the lake at night make for some pretty photos.
b.The Grand Floridian-
The name says it all: grand! The lobby is at its best at Christmas, but any time of year is a good time to take photos of The Grand Floridian. Its stately lobby, the architecture, the interior and exterior decor all make for good photos. Downstairs take some photos with the antique cars and at Christmas the lighted reindeer with a backdrop of poinsettias make great photos.
c.The Animal Kingdom Lodge-
The animals on property and the beautiful theming of the property itself make it an excellent picture spot.
The lobby and grounds make for the best photo opportunities here.
There are a plethora of great photography locations at Disney World. I have tried to introduce some little-known spots you may consider on your next visit.
