Belle’s Village is my favorite part of Magic Kingdom. There are two buildings that comprise it. The first is Gaston’s Tavern, and the second is Bonjour Gifts. Gaston’s Tavern is designed after the tavern in “Beauty and the Beast” where the citizens in the bar sang “Gaston.”
Gaston’s Tavern is made up of two sitting rooms and the main room to place orders. Once you enter into the room where you order, you will see mounted heads of various wild animals (strangely small.) The menu is made to look like rolls of parchment over targets held up by arrows. Behind the counter are several barrels and shelves upon which stand plates and bowls. Also on the walls are various types of guns. Served here is the best treat in all the parks: Lefou’s Brew. Also served here are pastries and a pork shank.
The room to the left of the entrance is the smallest. The walls are covered in more guns and animal heads. From the windows you get a clear view of the Beast’s Enchanted Forest. A dartboard also hangs on the wall. Next to it are scratches on the wall for every game that Gaston beat LeFou.
To the right of the entrance, the larger room has a large fireplace on the far wall with a large picture of Gaston holding a musket hanging above it. Still more animal heads and guns adorn the walls in this room. Large lamps and chandeliers made of antlers provide light. In the far right corner of the room is a circular tower. A large table sits in the center. Above this table is a giant chandelier made yet again of antlers. Between here and the fireplace is Gaston’s chair itself. Once during a meet-and-greet, Gaston strolled away from the line of people waiting for him saying, “I need to go make sure no one’s sitting in my chair!”
The exterior of Gaston’s Tavern is, to me, the best looking exterior in Fantasyland. The medieval, Tudor-style fits in with the rest of Fantasyland perfectly. To continue the antler theme, over the entrance to Gaston’s Tavern is a beer barrel with antlers. Green shutters are on either side of the first floor’s windows. In front of the tavern is a monument to Gaston. The monument shows Gaston with two barrels under his arm which pour water into two cups which Lefou holds. Gaston’s foot is perched upon Lefou’s shoulder. A plaque concerning the statue reads: A Tribute to Gaston, an extravagantly generous gift to the humble people of my village. From me, Gaston.
Lefou’s Brew, is a mango and apple flavor slushie. A froth is sprayed on top. The froth is toasted marshmellow and passion fruit flavored. It is a very sweet, refreshing slushie. Most nights while in the Magic Kingdom, my family and I get this. It cools you down after a long day in the parks, and you should definitely try it.
This area is, as I said, my favorite by a mile. The theming is the best throughout the parks, and the area is almost dead at night. With the addition of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you can now hear the screams of the riders. Make sure to stop by on your next family travel to Disney World.
