Disney Mediterranean Cruise Day 2
Disney Mediterranean Cruise Day 2 was a day at sea gliding through the calm, blue waters towards Italy. Many cruise passengers love sea days over port days. There are endless activities all over the ship for all age groups.
What Do You Do on a Sea Day?
This was a leisurely day for us: no rush, no worries, just eat, and check the Personal Navigator for things to do. Each evening during dinner, a Personal Navigator is placed on your bed. It details all of the activities going on the following day on the ship. Do you want to watch a movie? Movies play all day at the Buena Vista Theatre and on the Funnel Vision screen above the main pool. Would like to learn to draw a Disney character? There are lessons. Are you into games and trivia? Play Wheel of Fortune, Disney Trivia, or Movie Quotes Trivia. How does comedy sound? Pete Matthews is doing his physical comedy show in the afternoon. Maybe you just want to lounge by the pool? Maybe a spa treatment is in order?
Almost every morning, I (dad) like to begin my day with a run. The ocean breeze, salt smell, and rippling water make laps around Deck 4 promenade enjoyable. Elaine had an appointment at Senses Spa for massage which was wonderful for her aching back. We love the trivia games and participated in the Disney Tunes Challenge and Movie Quotes Trivia. We were not very good today, but it was still fun.
Cabanas buffet is the most popular lunch destination, but we prefer to visit the table service restaurant open at lunch. On the Disney Magic, this is Lumiere’s, the Beauty and the Beast themed French restaurant. Lunch is never crowded here. Disney Cruise Line’s evening meals are great, but we actually find the lunches at the table service restaurants to be even better. I think it must be from lower volumes that need to be served. Four courses for lunch and dinner will utterly spoil you!
Corsica and Sardinia
We sailed between the islands of Corsica and Sardinia on Disney Mediterranean Cruise Day 2 on our way to Italy. The views were amazing. The islands lie within 3 miles of each other at their nearest point. Corsica had dramatic white cliffs; Sardinia, a rocky red coast line. Someday I hope to visit both.
Dinner at Carioca’s
After lunch, playing games, spa treatment, and watching Jack Jack’s Incredible Diaper Dash (a race pitting crawling toddlers against each other; great fun) it was time for dinner at Carioca’s. Disney Mediterranean Cruise Day 2 was formal night for dining. A button up shirt with a Winnie the Pooh tie is about as formal as I get. With this being Disney though, that is okay. Carioca’s is a Rio de Janeiro themed restaurant with Latin American cuisine. As always, the food was wonderful. We became better acquainted with and grew fonder of both our table mates and servers. Dinner is always a great experience on Disney ships.
The headlining show for Disney Mediterranean Cruise Day 2 was “Twice Charmed: an Original Twist on the Cinderella Story.” This Broadway style musical is unique to the Disney Magic. The production features all of the characters from Cinderella, but with a twist brought on by a new character. this is one of the best Disney Cruise Line musicals. The music is catchy. The story flows well. There is comedy and suspense. And, it has a happy ending! The talent of the actors and the quality of the production are top notch. Disney knows how to put on a show!
After the Show
After the show, it was time for Family Karaoke in the D Lounge. My son and I were prepared, but the songs we were prepared for were not on the Disney Magic play list. I had assumed that each ship would have the same the list. So, we were thwarted in our attempt to embarrass my wife again. To end the evening of headed up to Deck 9 to Eye Scream for, you guessed it, Ice Cream.
Disney Mediterranean Cruise Day 2 was a wonderful, relaxing sea day ending with an amazing show, ice cream, and then off to bed. Day 3 takes us to dock in Napoli (Naples), Italy. Why can’t we use the name that the Italians use? We have a full day excursion to Sorrento with a boat ride along the Amalfi Coast. Join us for the next day of our family adventure aboard the Disney Magic.
