Day 3 Disney Fantasy Cruise
On Day 3 Disney Fantasy Cruise of the Western Caribbean we would visit our first port, Cozumel, Mexico. The day began as do all my days cruising, with a deck 4 run followed by breakfast.
The port of Cozumel was not what I had expected. It appeared much more like the Florida Coast with Condos and chain restaurants than the quaint old Mexican town with tiendas and abode houses that I had envisioned. We left the ship early for the Fury Sail Snorkel and Beach Excursion. Boarding a catamaran, we sailed up the coast to a place not far from the port to snorkel.
While I enjoyed the snorkeling, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The coral nor the fish were as dazzling as what we had seen in Antigua and Barbados. It was still a good experience, though. After snorkeling, we were taken further up the coast to their own private, Fury Beach.
The beach was nice and scenic with plenty of shade. The drinks were included. A blow up obstacle course was very popular with the kids. We could also kayak or try to paddle board. I attempted to paddle board. Wakes from jet skiers dumped me into the water several times. It was still fun.
The ride back to the Disney Fantasy took about 40 minutes. This was a lot of fun, too. Tequila and beer (cerveza) were flowing. Although we chose not to partake, plenty of adults did. Angel and the rest of the crew led a conga line and then line dancing on the deck. My son and I (dad) did our best to embarrass my wife with our dancing.
We missed lunch at the table service Royal Court and ate at Cabanas buffet. We participated in a music trivia quiz in hosted by Gus (mentioned in Day 1) in which a few bars of a Disney song were played on a piano and we had to guess. We came in 3rd, getting 10 of 15. A 12 year old girl and her mom got all 15 correct!
Dinner for Day 3 Disney Fantasy Cruise was at Animator’s Palate. Animator’s Palate is dinner and a show with games and with interaction with the characters from Finding Nemo on video screens like Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot. You actually talk with Crush!
The headlining act for the night was JUNNK, who we saw the night before in The Tube. Tonight they were in the Walt Disney Theater and performed a completely different routine. JUNNK is 4 person variety act featuring music, vocal, dance, and comedy that got their start on The UK’s Got Talent. We love this group! The show was amazingly entertaining.
After the show, our son and I (dad) performed and butchered If I Had a Million Dollars by Bare Naked Ladies in the D Lounge, hosted by DJ Cory (our helpful crew member from Day 2). We were horrible, but it was fun.
Check back tomorrow for Day 4 Disney Fantasy Cruise Falmouth Jamaica.
