Beautiful Amalfi Italy
Nestled into the seaside cliffs just to the south of Naples lies beautiful Amalfi, Italy. This medieval town boasts stunning views of both the sea and the mountains.
St. Andrew’s Cathedral (12th century), also known as Amalfi Cathedral, sits on the main square of the town. The dramatic staircase leading to the cathedral provides for wonderful photos and a nice place to sit. The church tower stretches above the rest of the village.
Huge lemons are grown in this area. Beautiful Amalfi is known for a lemon liqueur, limoncello, that is made from the lemons. You can purchase this and other lemon products throughout the town.
We did not try the limoncello, but did try some gelato. The vendor self-proclaimed it as the world’s best gelato.
I was reminded of this scene from the movie Elf. The gelato was very tasty. So, for all I know, it is the best in the world. The town is small and easy to tour on foot.
We arrived at Amalfi by boat. We were treated to amazing views both coming and going.
When you visit southern Italy, make time to visit. Beautiful Amalfi, Italy will not disappoint.
