I will be going to the last night of the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties this year on November 1st, and it will be my second time attending. My first time at the party was not as enjoyable as it could have been due to a variety of reasons. I ended up missing the parade, which was what I had most anticipated. We are going again this year and I hope to see everything on this list of what I believe are the top 5 reasons to attend the party.
1) The Boo to You Halloween Parade
As I previously stated, we missed this parade last year. This year, it will be my top priority to get there at least 30 minutes before to get a good seat. Even though the Magic Kingdom parties are much less crowded than normal times, the parade is one of the major reasons to come. I only hope it is as good as the parade at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (which is my favorite parade.) I want to be surprised by the parade, so the only information I have on it is that the Headless Horseman (from the underrated Disney film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad) starts off the parade. I also know that Mickey and Minnie come dressed in Halloween costumes, and most of the villains are there as well.
While anyone can go to their local mall, dress up and look at other people’s costumes, attending a party at WDW is unique. Being at WDW where people from all over the world come, is a chance to see some truly interesting costumes. Not only kids dress up here, but about half the adults dress up too. My favorite costume I saw last year was King Arthur from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
3) Trick or Treating
While anyone can do this in their own town, Disney makes it special. Trick-or-Treating on Main Street is a unique experience. There are also Trick-or-Treating spots all around the park. Pick up a map when you enter and it will show you all the places that give candy. Just make sure you get in the right line, because most of the lines for candy are right next to the ride line. My mother and I ended up getting candy we really didn’t want, when we tried to get onto Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean.
I did see this last year and I hope my opinion on it changes. Many people (no doubt Haunted Mansion fans) call it the best Disney fireworks show. I think that Disneyland Forever is the best with this being the worst. It is narrated by the Ghost Host (from the Haunted Manson) with “Grim Grinning Ghosts” (also from the Haunted Mansion) as the main song. Personaly, I wish it had a bit less Haunted Mansion. It seemed like a bit of a feeble storyline for an entire fireworks show.
5) Haunted Mansion
While this is not one of my favorite rides at Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the best time to go on it. This is one of the few attractions at the park that fits the Halloween theming. The only other rides that fit being: Pirates of the Caribbean and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. If you are not sure how Big Thunder fits into a Halloween theme, then look up it’s backstory. I also look forward to seeing someone with one of the more “interesting” costumes try to fit in the doombuggies with his/her family members.
This will be my second time attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and due to the 5 things I’ve listed above I am really looking forward to it. Consider buying tickets for the party while you still can.
